Cortijo Romero is seeking a Marketing Assistant (this is a volunteer opportunity).
We are in the process of developing a new digital and social media marketing strategy. The aim is to reposition and modernise our branding, to develop greater visibility of Cortijo Romero within today's wellness and personal development market, and to attract and increase guest numbers whilst maintaining the integrity of the Cortijo Romero values.
The main focus of this new role is to provide hands-on operational support to help implement the strategy.
Creative tasks such as writing marketing copy, choosing, editing, and uploading photographs onto various platforms. Writing advertisements for publications, placing ads on facebook and other social media platforms to attract new guests. Maintaining a regular social media presence, monitoring and replying to comments and uploading new posts.
Manipulating and segmenting the database of prospective guests, creating, constructing and sending out regular newsletters. Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of campaigns.
Liaising with our bookings staff and team in Spain to maintain accurate content management of the Cortijo Romero website. Modernising the tone of voice for our holiday retreat and facilitator descriptions. Reviewing analytics to measure the effectiveness of the website, and to improve website user journeys.
Writing up how-to guides for the platforms and tools used, and helping to train other team members on marketing support activities.
Some additional administrative work may also occasionally be required. For example, improving materials sent to guests before their arrival, updating contact details on MailChimp, and collating guest feedback.

- developing a programme of online Taster Events to be delivered by our facilitators
- identifying user journeys and designing changes to the Cortijo Romero website to match our new branding positioning
- writing articles about the Cortijo Romero story for digital or print media
Skills & Experience Required
You do not need to have visited Cortijo Romero, or to have worked within the wellness or personal development industry to be suitable for this role.
We are looking for a person with strong experience within digital and social media marketing. Specifically with the platforms typically used by our target demographic; Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. A good knowledge of the Meta business suite of tools on these platforms is essential, experience with LinkedIn is desirable.
Experience of writing marketing copy is essential, as is experience with Mailchimp or a similiar digital campaign management tool.
Knowledge of Microsoft office is essential, with proficiency in data management tools such as Excel to analyse and provide management information on the most productive marketing channels, and the impact of offers and campaigns. Some basic skills with Access would also beneficial.
Prior experience of website content management, and online event management, and the marketing tools within Eventbrite would be useful, or the desire and confidence to self-learn.
You will need to have good social skills as you may be liaising with previous and prospective guests, website designers, and the 40 plus facilitators that deliver the holiday retreats at Cortijo Romero. Good organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to complete work to deadlines is also important.
Experience of working in a small company with all of the challenges and opportunities that brings would also be beneficial, patience and adaptability are crucial to the success of this role.
You will work closely with a small friendly team of paid part-time staff and volunteers based in the UK and Spain (English speaking), finding out how a retreat centre runs, and how to market to a specific age demographic interested in holidays focused on wellness and personal development.
