The benefits of tai chi are profound as it strengthens both body and mind. I try to facilitate how to deeply relax (let go) to experience the chi (or energy) at the heart of true vitality, which is the wellspring for health as well as for self-defence. My approach is based on my own experience and the realisation that tai chi is an internal art. The external form and movements are secondary to an understanding of what happens on the inside with energetic movements and developments. I practice and teach according to the principles laid down in the Classics of Tai Chi. Tai chi is within us – we simply have to allow it to emerge and the Classics give us the blueprint for this.

Phil is an Advanced Instructor of Tai Chi and Qigong with over 30 years’ experience and has studied with teachers from around the world. He is based in Cornwall UK where he also works as a therapist, and loves to surf.
