Shona Cameron
Shona trained as a teacher, then in 2000, as an Educational Psychologist. Always learning, she gained breadth and depth that influences her clear and pragmatic approach. She is trained in CBT, Coaching Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focussed Approaches, EMDR, Mindfulness and Nonviolent Communication. Shona first trained in Switzerland with Dr Marshall Rosenberg in 2004. She continues to learn and explore psychology.
Recognising NVC's potential for personal and social change, Shona told the head of schools where she worked that if teachers really knew the power of being in touch with their own needs, they may decide never to come back. "Great,” the person said, “then we'll have the teachers who really want to be here." Inspired, she brought Nonviolent Communication into spaces where no one knew what she was doing.
Shona authored a chapter in the book, Restorative Theory in Practice: Insights into What Works and Why and runs an online community of people practising NVC called Words are Windows
One of Shona’s favourite learning methods is the NVC Dance Floors, which offer an embodied yet simple way to integrate NVC into our daily lives.
