Until her retirement in October 2015, Gaynor was Dean of Cardiff School of Art & Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is now a cat -owning gardener and an active writer, living in the mountains of Wales.
She is interested in the ways our senses inform us, anchoring our memories and sense of self. Engaging with art and making is a way of exploring this, finding meanings and comfort where the use of words may fail us.
Gaynor believes that being creative, in whatever form this takes, is fundamental to our well-being and that we are all innately creative in one way or another. The trick to this is living mindfully and in the moment, opening our senses to all that is both around and in us.
