What we do:
The practices I love to share are rooted in ancient cultural, spiritual and healing traditions, systemic psychology, ecology, neuroscience and Buddhism. These exercises all touch on aspects of becoming present, feeling connected and alive; helping us attune to nature, however it manifests within and around us, in an intimate relationship and field to which we contribute with every breath and from which we receive ‘inspiration’.
We begin by recalling gardens we love or imagine from childhood, art and stories. We practice paying attention to our somatic experiences as we make mixed media, expressive art in response to these and our meditative walks in the grounds. The interplay between these elements fosters the recognition that our creativity itself is itself an expression of nature, a force of nature, a gift to the world. In response, feelings of becoming and belonging, gratitude and inspiration, along with griefs and sorrows, often spontaneously flow, encouraging us to be attentive, compassionate and more responsive to our real needs and the gifts we have for the world.
The course aims to balance appreciation with exploration, to liberate apparent obstacles to the free flow of your creative expression, offering you skilled, sensitive support and guidance to,
- Deepen trust and confidence in your spontaneous creativity and to recognise this as a source of sustaining joy, self-healing and wisdom.
- Be both playful and meditative; practicing simple, artistic ways to relax thinking, discover lightness-of-being and effortless ‘calligraphy’ as you experience how breath and natural expressive gestures become visible in mark-making.
- Develop receptivity, responsiveness and co-creativity with nature and to rest in this connection.
- Revitalise your art-making with found natural materials, awakening your senses and imagination to create new forms.
- Tend the ‘garden’ of your own body-mind and life. During the gentle processes, you will be encouraged to allow so-called ‘problems’ or symptoms to naturally untangle and transform.
