In a safely supportive environment, Systemic Constellations offer a profound methodology that enables us to find the healing movement or resolution to complex or sometimes seemingly intractable personal issues. These issues may arise from family, relationships, career or existential and spiritual difficulties. We will work together to:
• support our wellbeing in the various groups (or “systems”) to which we belong
• explore the forces that underpin healthy, loving connection - looking at how key events and traumas in previous generations may be affecting our lives and relationships today
• restore peaceful purpose and gentle life-loving connections.
The non-profit Centre for Systemic Constellations (CSC), is the leading UK training provider of such methods, which are among the most important innovations of recent times for handling difficult human issues. Each year, their staff run holiday workshops at Cortijo Romero.
Most of us find ourselves living with repetitive problems that seem to be immune to change. We may commit ourselves to either conventional or alternative forms of therapy, yet the unhelpful patterns persist. Systemic (or Family) Constellations, based on the original work of Bert Hellinger and others, has demonstrated that we need to investigate the hidden connections with family members and past events to free ourselves from these ties in order to shake off these problems.
The Constellating method is a deeply moving approach to making long-term changes that tap into our true potential, to rediscover our flow in life. It is a systemic approach that explores these underlying dynamics in families, and other groups we are members of, to provide new understandings and fresh insight. Rather than looking at ourselves as separate individuals, we look at the web of relationship within the wider system, in conjunction with any significant events that have impacted on the family and its members, to provide a fuller picture of ourselves as part of our larger set of systems. The hidden and unexpected dynamics operating within the system are revealed, and addressed in a way that aims to find a healthy and respectful place for all members of the system in question.
A Constellation is a solution-focused process that examines the connections between the different elements of a system, including people or events that have been overlooked. The client is asked to create a spatial representation of the family (and significant events) in relation to one another. This generates new information and perspectives; further information is elicited as each representative feeds back the experience of that position. The purpose is to locate where the issue or difficulty originates within the system, which past event or family members had the original experience that is still having ramifications now. This burden and responsibility can now be handed back to where it rightly belongs in a way that is respectful and honours everyone in the system. Witnessing and participating in fellow group members constellations also provides a rich source of learning about our own life, family and resolutions.
This way of working is very resourcing for those in personal therapy of counselling. The two complement each other well and what gives constellation work the powerful impact it has, is the way it helps bring hidden loyalties and patterns to life. Constellations have a way of revealing our hidden unconscious loyalties to the traumas and tragedies of those in our wider family system - usually those who came a generation or two before us. When we see these loyalties to tragedies that are not ours, we can let go of them, leave them behind and move into a more authentic life, living with integrity for our future and in more alignment with our own purpose.
"Constellation work is a deep peace-building work, which touches us all with dignity and grace." - Liz
