Weaving With Water
Give a big hug to the creative self that sits inside you
From Saturday Jul 14, 2018
to Saturday Jul 21, 2018
Whether or not you think you have a creative self, it’s there... and here’s how to release it. It will leap out of you, join you in a good laugh and give you a hug back.
- Immerse yourself in music, dance, artwork, writing, meditation, visualisation, and body listening, inspiring you to play purposefully and create.
- Think about the ideas behind what you create and what these mean to you.
The process will appeal to your senses and your sense of fun, whilst asking gentle questions about who and where you are in your life. You will probably get mucky, use your whole body and do stuff you didn’t expect. You will be great at all of it.
No artistic expertise is needed. A sense of adventure would be handy, but if you can’t bring one with you, you will definitely find it along the way.
Gaynor Kavanagh is an academic and writer, who until October 2015, was Dean of Cardiff School of Art & Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She continues to write, play and muck about with ideas. She takes inspiration from the landscape and the garden. She is interested in the ways our senses inform us, anchoring our memories and sense of self.
She brings to the Weaving with Water Course at Cortijo Romero a love of words, images and forms, plus a great sense of adventure and fun.
She believes that being creative, in whatever form this takes, is fundamental to our well-being and that we are all innately creative in one way or another. The trick to this is living mindfully and in the moment, opening our senses to all that is both around and in us.
