The Garden of The Heart

Art, mindfulness and communion with nature

From Saturday May 12, 2018 to Saturday May 19, 2018
Cost: £730.00
Availability: CALL

Mindfulness, meditation and sensory immersion in the garden help us relax and become more aware of what's going on around us and in our bodies - not just our eyes. Making art then expresses that awareness, or may increase it and become gently therapeutic.

Savour some personally enriching time, discovering your own way. Let go of striving and relax into a fluid meditative process, enjoying art as spontaneous and effortless. (It's not an art skills class.)

• Forms, symbols and images from many cultures, plus our personal histories, enrich our art-making.

• Art-making with the whole body enables child-like play, strong feelings and celebration - using breath, body awareness and natural gestures to guide us.

• Small-scale, miniature art-making lets us dive into close-up detail to express intimate connection or intense feeling.

For anybody who wants to be more alive in body and mind and more attuned to nature.

Course Leader

Beverley A'court
Expressive art has been a vital process since my childhood, enriched with many years’ experience in art and body/dance-movement therapies, Buddhist meditation, Deep Ecology and a love of gardening, tree planting and poetry. I see the arts as humanity's most ancient healing & transformative practices, ways to express & explore deep experience that often results in renewed connection to self, natural world & vitality. I am committed to co-developing culturally permeable forms of therapy & trainings; innovative but grounded in our embodied life, ecological systems and cultural traditions.

People Say…

"Beverley led us in a lovely gentle way, helping us to be more expansive and freer in our art and encouraging our connection with nature, and also encouraging us to share, co-operate and work in pairs and groups. I also liked the mindfulness. "
