José studied flamenco from a young age in Spain and performs internationally with his sister Ana in their group "Amor Flamenco". He teaches in the UK and Spain, sharing his invaluable experience accompanying dancers and singers. José loves teaching, believing that learning should be fun, with no pressure or stress. (Se habla español.)
José is a prolific songwriter in multiple genres with numerous songs featured in TV and films, including Ugly Betty, Gotham, Pretty Little Liars, The Glades, Mistresses, The Shield and Los Bandoleros(starring Vin Diesel).
He is in demand as a session guitarist for recording, has been interviewed in Spanish on BBC Radio Mundo (broadcast globally) featuring his own original material and has also been called on as interpreter for Flamenco artists performing/teaching in the UK.
Jose's multilingual abilities (English, Spanish, French and Italian speakers can all be accomodated in José's classes) and wide musical tastes were put to use in his role as compere for the Regent Street Festival Of Spain. This required him to interview musicians from diverse regions and genres of Spain and present their performances to an audience of many thousands of people.
In recent years Amor Flamenco have performed at The Pavilion Theatres in Brighton and Worthing, Winchester Cathedral, The Hawth Crawley , The Saatchi Gallery London and The Khalifa Stadium Qatar amongst many others.
Classes are relaxed and friendly with patient, encouraging guidance giving an authentic insight into the rhythms, accompaniment and techniques. This Flamenco Guitar course is an incredible opportunity to be immersed in Flamenco in it's heartland and enjoy a truly Flamenco `ambiente`, with collaborations between dance and guitar students on a daily basis giving a hard to find chance to intergrate these intertwined art forms and learn how they work together.
Guitar students develop the crucial skills of solid rhythmic support needed to accompany dancers and singer (José sings for classes) along with the finesse and subtlety to play melodic variations (falsetas).
