Paul and Fiona Primarolo
Paul and Fiona have lived and farmed in the area for many years and now share their love of it with an ever-widening circle through their Bootlace Holidays. They have a deep knowledge of the mountains, their flora and fauna. Paul collects most of our guests from Malaga and is our regular excursion guide. Fiona was for many years a very popular cook at Cortijo Romero and still stands in for others from time to time. (Se habla español.)
Fiona is a trained art therapist and runs regular workshops and courses here and in the UK with Rebecca Faro (Cardy). She says "one of the reasons I moved to the Spain in the late 80's was that I realised I'd become stuck in many ways by a sedentary life. I wanted to spend more time out of doors - in the sun! - and to be practical and move my body more. Walking with Paul and my movement practice with Rebecca have been two of the ways this has happened. Building a home and living on a small holding in the mountains are more!"
Paul trained as an electronics engineer for the MOD and lived in India for 8 years where he trekked extensively in the Himalaya. "My love of walking and mountains started as a child in the Lake District and hills of Wales and this eventually brought me to Spain and the Sierra Nevada in 1985 where I brought up my children, met Fiona and restored the abandoned farm where we have built our home. I've planted many trees and walked many miles in this time...and there are many more to go!"
