Laura McAuley
Laura McAuley is Irish and lives in Dublin. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Philosophy and has conducted many workshops in creative writing and creativity. She taught Television Production and Script Editing at the Multi Media School and Liberties College, Dublin and at the European Film College in Denmark. Recent courses delivered include Creative Skills at the National Training & Development Institute. She has worked in television, with both the BBC and for many years with RTE, Ireland’s national broadcaster on a wide variety of TV programmes, including the scripting department of the popular soap, ‘Fair City’, on which she also spent time in the role of Series Producer. She has directed features, documentary and children’s television programmes and has recently lectured on the Film and Media Faculty in DIAT (Dublin’s third level college of Art, Design, Film and Media.)
She has won a Deirdre Purcell Radio show award for one of her own short stories ‘Cellulite Blues’ and has been published in The Irish Times newspaper and Woman’s Way magazine. In 2020 her writing was performed on stage at the Abbey Theatre Dublin (Ireland's National Theatre) as part of the Abbey’s ‘Dear Ireland’ series of productions in response to the Coronavirus epidemic. She is currently working on her own book of short stories.
