Ana Duenas León

Ana has been immersed in flamenco from a young age, having spent much of her childhood at her family home in Cordoba, Andalucia. Ana has studied with some of the best flamenco teachers and choreographers including Belen Fernandez, Ciro, Belen Maya and Mercedez Ruiz.



DANCE EXPERIENCE:
Ana has been teaching and performing flamenco dance for the last 12 years and has performed in flamenco clubs in Spain and the UK as well as theatres such as The Komedia, Brighton, The Pavilion Theatres in Brighton and Worthing, Winchester Cathedral, The Hawth, Crawley and The Hackney Empire London. Ana performs throughout the South with her Flamenco company Amor Flamenco created by herself and her brother Jose Luis and also has her own company Tormenta Flamenca that perform in theatres across the UK. They create a powerful and exciting live Flamenco show full of power and passion.

As well as her live performing, Ana's dancing and choreography have been featured in several television programmes and advertising campaigns. She has appeared on Meridian Television, Channel 4, BBC and has performed and choreographed throughout Europe for O2, Openwide International, Deutche Post and Formula 1. Her understanding of this art form has made Ana a real resource and she has not only been interviewed by BBC Radio and My Spirit radio but her writing on Flamenco has been featured in publications such as Sussex Life, The Argus, Sussex Women, Virtual Brighton Magazine as well as the Spanish Flamenco magazine Alma 100. Not only is she in demand as a performer but her strong visual image has been used on some of the top selling Flamenco compilation albums.

TEACHING:
Ana has been teaching Flamenco dance in the UK for over 12 years and she now runs a minimum of 4 classes a week as well as running regular workshops and presentations in schools and education centres. She also runs intensive training programmes in Granada, Andalucía which challenge and inspire her students. Her work in schools has included, among many others: The Brit school of Performing Arts, London, Cottesmore Infants School, Brighton, The Oak School, Crawley, Brighton University, Chichester University and Morley College, London.

Ana is passionate about teaching and thrives on nurturing individual achievement and progress, and places no limits as to what is possible. She has also taught 2 years running at the prestigious Spanish Dance Society's summer schools run in London. Furthermore Ana has produced flamenco dance instruction DVDs and videos entitled An Introduction To Flamenco Dance™, which have sold throughout the world through her website www.flamencodance.co.uk. Ana is a warm and enthusiastic teacher who creates an encouraging atmosphere in her class. Her deep understanding and love of flamenco, along with her patience and sensitivity makes Ana a gifted and popular facilitator.
