Taking inspiration from Rumi, Mary Oliver, and a host of contemporary poets, we will draw on metaphor, memoir and myth, honesty and humour, to heal the hard stories, celebrate our epiphanies and invite in a creative future. We will write poetry and prose fragments, exploring new ways to harvest our experience in words, make more sense of our lives and aim to be reconnected with our deepest and highest selves.
In the words of the 14th c mystic poet Lalla :
I didn’t trust it for a moment,
but I drank it anyway,
the wine of my own poetry.
It gave me the daring to take hold
of the darkness and tear it down
and cut it into little pieces.
You do not need to have written before to enjoy and benefit from this course, it is suitable for everyone.
