This course is suitable for people who would like to write either Fiction or Non-Fiction or both. It can be the starting point or a stop-over on your writing journey. You may want to start writing, continue some writing that you’ve already started or just give yourself time to relax and enjoy the creative experience. We will experiment with writing Short Stories, Flash Fiction, Scriptwriting, Poetry and Life Writing and the course will be geared towards each person’s individual writing needs. We will look at the work of established writers from the U.K. , Ireland and other countries and use their writing as inspiration. There will be time for writing, reading and discussion. By the end of the week you will have a clearer sense of your style and voice and the direction in which you’d like to take your writing.
During the week you will:
• Use various “trigger” exercises, both written and visual, to kickstart your writing;
• Review a variety of excerpts from published writers from the U.K., Ireland and other countries;
• Get to grips with story-telling, structure, character and setting;
• Through experimenting with different writing forms, find your own unique style and voice ;
• Have fun and enjoy the experience of creating space to write and be with a group of like-minded, supportive people.
