Insurance

You must be insured against sickness and its associated costs. A good travel policy also covers you for losses and all the other usual risks, as well as having to cancel at short notice. Ours offers a standard level of protection and there is no charge for insuring a second or even a third visit within a year.  It's best to take the insurance out when you pay your deposit, so that you are covered if it turns out that you can't go. You can use your own insurer if you prefer. (Those living outside the U.K will have to do that anyway.)

We strongly advise that you also get a European Health Insurance Card. This covers the cost of actual medical treatment (not ambulances or the "hotel" costs of a hospital stay) and generally smoothes the way - a sort of "passport" to medical care.
